Glance At KSSC
KARNATAKA STATE SEEDS CORPORATION LIMITED (K.S.S.C) is a Government Company registered under Companies Act, 1956 for the purpose of dealing with the most vital input ‘SEEDS’ for the benefit of the farmers of the State.

The Corporation was established in the year 1973 under the Name and style of "Karnataka State Agro Seeds Corporation Limited", a subsidiary organization of Karnataka Agro Industries Corporation Limited. The Government of Karnataka have participated in the National Seed Project-II during 1979. Under the National Seed project, the subsidiary organization was made as Independent Corporation under the present name and style of "Karnataka State Seeds Corporation Limited". Today the Corporation is one of the successfully run organizations of the Government of Karnataka.
Aim of KSSC
The Aim of the Corporation is to emerge as an industry leader in the State, in seed line of activity, with a continuous pursuance of excellence in quality and effective distribution service, with an eye on right product, right time, right price, and right place of supply.
Vision of KSSC
The Vision of the Corporation is to be leading agency for accelerating agriculture productivity and production and for improving the viability of agriculture as a vocation.
Investment
The Government of Karnataka, National Seeds Corporation Ltd. (NSC) and the Seed Growers are eligible for investment in the Share Capital in the proportion of 35:30:35 respectively.
Board of the Company
As per the Memorandum & Articles of Association of the Corporation, at present the position of the Chairman is Ex-Officio, the Principal Secretary to Government, Agriculture & Horticulture Department, Government of Karnataka. The Board of Karnataka State Seeds Corporation Ltd. (KSSC) has in all 12 Directors, equally represented by GOK, GOI (NSC) and Grower shareholders. As on today, 4 Directors are represented from Govt. of Karnataka. 1 Director from GOI (NSC) and 4 Directors from Grower shareholders.
Shareholders Seed Grower
The Articles of Association of the Company provides an opportunity for seed growers to become shareholders. Accordingly, for the year ending 2007-08there are 9767 shareholder seed growers holding 122230 Number of equity shares of Rs.100/- each. The seed growers can acquire a minimum of 10 equity shares and a maximum of 100 equity share of Rs.100/- each. Until 2000-01 every year the Company paid an incentive of about 15 to 25% of the paid up share amount in the form of discount coupons promoting the Seed growers to purchase Foundation and Certified seeds and for the year 2006-07 & 2007-08 discount coupons of 25% of their paid up share amount has been issued to shareholders. In addition 6% dividend also paid to the Share holders of their paid up share value.
Organisations of Operations
Today the Company is placed in an environment of globalization, liberalized economy and competitive market situation. The Management of the Company is governed by Board of Directors. The Managing Director is the Chief Executive of the Company and also represented on the Board, functioning within the policy framework set out by the Board. He is assisted by the functional set up at the Head Office level by a General Manager (PRODN), General Manager (M&C), General Manager (FA&MIS), Deputy General Manager (PD&QC), Company Secretary cum Deputy General Manager (ADM) & Assistant General Manager (IA & Vig).


Based on similarity in terms of Agro climatic conditions, cropping pattern, manageable geographical territory and potential workloads, the operational centres have been established. Each operational centre is headed by an Assistant Manager (OP) / Deputy Manager (OP) / Regional Manager (OP) / Assistant General Manager (OP) depending on potentiality of the area and work load and assisted by supporting staff. The Corporation at present has total strength of 277 Nos. with 50 Nos. of Technical officers. The Company has established 37 operational units consisting of Sale Points, Seeds Processing Units, Production and Marketing Centres
